July 1st. 2013, the provision of the Title XII of the Aliens Act entered into force, regulating stay and work of highly-qualified third-country nationals.

Also entering into force was the Ordinance on stay and work of highly-qualified third-country nationals in the Republic of Croatia, regulating the way of establishing conditions for regulating stay and work of highly-qualified third-country nationals workers (the EU Blue Card holders), and the conditions regulating stay of their family members.

Procedure

A high-skilled third-country national shall submit an application for the issuance of a stay and work permit at a diplomatic mission or consular post of the Republic of Croatia or at a jurisdictional police administration or police station, according to the place of residence.

A residence and work permit (the EU Blue Card) shall be issued with the term of validity of up to two years. The Blue Card shall be issued for the term of the employment contract increased by three additional months.
